Social Security Tribunal of Canada

Ways to contact the Social Security Tribunal

Make sure you’re in the right place

We do not process:

  • Applications for Employment Insurance (EI) benefits, Canada Pension Plan (CPP) including disability benefits, Old Age Security (OAS), Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) or the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). You can apply for these benefits through Service Canada opens a new window.
  • Appeals of reconsideration decisions related to EI benefits. You can appeal to the Employment Insurance (EI) Board of Appeal opens a new window.

If you have a decision from Service Canada and you don’t agree with it, your first step is to ask them to reconsider.

When you receive your reconsideration decision from Service Canada and you still don’t agree:

  • If it’s about CPP, CPP disability, OAS, GIS or CDB, you can appeal to the SST’s General Division. You need a reconsideration decision to appeal.
  • If it’s about EI, you can appeal to the EI Board of Appeal. If you disagree with your decision from the EI Board of Appeal, you can appeal to the SST’s Appeal Division.
